Celebrate Latinx Heritage Month with CLC! Join us for a party featuring
two fantastic Latinx artists from South America. Preeminent protest music
icon, singer/songwriter Isabel Ramírez and her group La Muchacha, rose
to stardom for her songs calling for peace in her native Colombia. La Sonora Mazuren performs an eclectic variety of alternative tropical music, creating
a psychedelic musical feast.​
​This engagement of La Muchacha is made possible in part through the Performing Arts Global Exchange program of Mid Atlantic Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

artistas latinos de Sudamérica. El ícono preeminente
de la música de protesta, la cantante y compositora
Isabel Ramírez y su grupo La Muchacha, saltaron
al estrellato por sus canciones en pro de la paz en
su Colombia natal. La Sonora Mazuren interpreta
una variedad ecléctica de música tropical alternativa,
y crea un festín musical psicodélico.

Join Lyric Opera of Chicago for our 2024/25 Opera in the Neighborhoods public performances of Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World, a story about facing your fears, learning new things, and the power of friendship.
Based on the acclaimed book by author and illustrator Laurence Anholt, the story follows the real-life friendship of Mariana, a young girl living in the heart of Mexico City, and Frida Kahlo, the famed artist. When Mariana plucks up her courage to meet Frida, a friendship blossoms between them. You’ll meet Frida’s husband, artist Diego Rivera, as well as a singing parrot, dog, and monkey. Young people will delight in the opportunity to participate in this charming musical journey!​

Basada en el aclamado libro del autor e ilustrador Laurence Anholt, la historia sigue la amistad
en la vida real de Mariana, una joven que vive
en el corazón de la Ciudad de México, y Frida
Kahlo, la famosa artista. Cuando Mariana se arma
de valor para conocer a Frida, florece una amistad
entre ellas. Conocerás al esposo de Frida, el artista
Diego Rivera, así como a un loro cantante,
un perro y un mono. ¡Los jóvenes disfrutarán
la oportunidad de participar en esta cautivadora
travesía musical!
