General Questions
What kinds of shows do you offer?
The JLC offers a variety of shows including performing artists and bands that visit the college and play on our stages! We have dancers and dance groups, solo-musicians, bands of all genres, comedians, public speakers, wind and choral ensembles, and theatrical performances including musicals and plays!

How do I buy tickets at the JLC?
There are several ways that you can buy tickets to shows at the JLC!

Visit us in-person at our Box Office, located at 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake 60030. We are located in the P building on the east side of the college. If you park in parking lot #4, our entrance is located closest to this parking lot.

Buy tickets over the phone at 847-543-2300. You will be connected to a Box Office staff member who will assist you with selecting your desired show, showtime, seating arrangements and processing your payment.

Order tickets online. If you would like to order tickets online, please visit this website, and select your desired show. You can add tickets to your cart and pay online. Options for tickets to be delivered via email or picked up in person will be offered at the bottom of your screen.
Please carefully review showtimes and dates prior to completing your purchase.
Do you have any discounts and who is eligible to receive them?
We have discounts for students, faculty, staff, seniors and military. All K-12 and college students receive the student discount, not just CLC students! CLC staff receive the student discount and should select that option when purchasing online. Please contact the Box Office at 847-543-2300 to ask specific questions about discounts, or ask in-person when you visit to purchase tickets. We are happy to help!
Logistics and Planning
Where are you located?
The James Lumber Center is located at the Grayslake CLC campus. The address is 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake 60030.
Where do I park when attending a show at the JLC?
When you arrive on campus, look for Lancer Ln. Turn onto Lancer Ln. and look for the sign that reads “4” - designating parking lot #4. From this parking lot, you should be able to see the James Lumber Center sign on the building closest to the lot. We are in this building, and you can find us directly through the entrance that looks like this:
Can I print my ticket at home, or will you print it for me?
In Person: If you visit the Box Office in person, you can ask for your tickets to be printed! If you prefer an e-version, please let us know, and we will email them to you.
Online: If you purchase tickets online, you may have them emailed to you and you may print them at home. Alternatively, if you prefer a physical copy, you can elect to have them printed by the Box Office and come to pick them up before the show. If you prefer to pick them up before the date of the show you are attending, the Box Office is open from Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Phone: If you order tickets over the phone, you can request that they be printed at the Box Office, and you can let us know when you will stop by to pick them up! Box Office hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over the phone, you may also request that they be emailed to you, and you can print them at home.
How do I find my seat when going to a show?
Ushers are stationed in and outside the theatres to help you locate your seat, should you need assistance. If you would like to view a seating map prior to your showtime, please check here!
Do you have ADA parking and seating?
We have ADA parking and seating! The James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts is ADA compliant, and our staff is fully committed to making the venue accessible for all patrons.
Individuals who need assistance should notify the JLC Box Office at 847-543-2300, at least two weeks in advance.

When I arrive, do I need to show my ticket to the Box Office?
No! When you arrive, if you already have your digital or printed tickets in-hand, please go on to locate the theatre that your performance is going to be in. Outside the theatre doors, there will be a JLC staff member who will scan your tickets and welcome you into the theatre!
Theatre Specific Questions
What is the noise level like in the theatres?
Depending on the performance you are seeing (i.e. music, dance, theatre), you may want to account for noise level. If you or someone coming with you to a show is sensitive to noise or has any concerns regarding this topic, please feel free to give the Box Office a call at 847-543-2300 to ask about your specific performance and the probable noise level associated with it.
If you would like to bring noise-lessening headphones for yourself, a friend, or a child, to make the experience more enjoyable, please feel free to do so. We also have ear plugs on-hand. Please speak to an usher if you would like ear plugs.
Do you have a concessions stand? What kind of foods and drinks do you offer? Payments accepted?
We have a wonderful concessions stand that offers a variety of candies, chips, sodas, water, coffee and even adult beverages for great prices!
Some of our favorite concessions items are freshly-brewed coffee supplied by our friends over at Drip and Culture Coffee in Waukegan, classic sweets such as fruity candy and chocolate bars, as well as pretzel sticks, chips, and crackers! We also offer beer and wine.
We accept cash and credit/debit cards!
Can I bring food or drink in the theatre?
Drinks are allowed inside the theatre. No food is allowed inside the theatre.
Can I bring a bag with me?
Yes, you may bring a bag.
Do I have to dress “fancy”?
No suit, tie, or long flowy dress required. Unless you would like to! *
*Attendees for symphony events tend to dress in formal wear.
I’ve heard a chime playing around the theatre spaces—what does this mean?
When you hear a chime playing before a show or during an intermission, it means that the show is soon to start up again! Be sure to get back into your seat as soon as possible to avoid missing any parts of the performance!
