ABOUT THE SHOW
Join us for a reading and conversation with acclaimed author Rebecca Makkai.
Rebecca Makkai is the author of the New York Times bestselling I Have Some Questions For You and the award-winning novel The Great Believers, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award. She also grew up right here in Lake County!
In partnership with Grayslake Library, this event features a talk is with Makkai and four College of Lake County student interviewers live on stage!
The topic of this discussion will be Makkai's book The Great Believers, which brings the story of two characters to life as they search for goodness in the midst of disaster- focusing on 1980s Chicago, a flourishing arts scene in the city, a character’s search for her daughter in modern times and the lingering effects of the AIDS epidemic.
As a special part of this exciting event, there will also be a reading and a book signing in the James Lumber Center lobby, alongside tables for the CLC English and the CLC Gender and Sexualities Departments, LancerZone Bookstore and other wonderful community organizations.
Bring your copy of The Great Believers and some enthusiasm for a good book with you when you join us for this special literary appreciation event!
